Little League Baseball

Baseball for youth Ages 5 - 12.
Crested Butte's Division 1 and 2 teams may play in a new league this summer. Registration will open when we have more information about the possible league format. Early season indoor practices for D2 players will begin Thursday April 25. A waiver must be signed prior to participating, you may do so online below, or when you drop your player off for practice.

Important Dates
• EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION DEADLINE is 10:00 pm on Monday May 20th. A $20.00 discount will be honored for registrations received prior to the deadline. This fee is per family, if you are registering more than one family member after the deadline we will make an adjustment at the office.
• As with soccer and hockey, the age cutoffs are very strict for Little League as well.
• Practices will begin as soon as school is out, the week of June 10 – 14.
• All age groups will practice for the first two weeks, and then split into teams. When teams are split, uniform caps and tops will be handed out at practice. Do not come to the Parks & Recreation Office.
• Farm League and Older age groups: Players will not be provided with baseball pants. They must have gray baseball pants for games, and these are good ideas for practices as well. Youth sized pants will be for sale in the office at a later date for $5 each.

EQUIPMENT
All players must have a glove, hat, sunscreen, and water for every practice and game. Your coaches may have other recommendations and/or requirements (sunglasses, snacks, etc.).
Cleats are not required, and not necessarily recommended for the youngest ages (t-ball and farm league). Those little ones don’t weigh enough to sink cleats into firm high altitude fields. Athletic shoes are fine; soccer/baseball turf shoes (with the nubbies) are the best. Cleats are hard on feet, especially young growing and developing bones. Note: you can use soccer cleats for baseball, but you can’t use baseball cleats for soccer.

Scholarship Information is available online and application forms are due prior to the early registration deadline for each program.

Coaches & Coach Helpers
Required: Follow this link to the “Coach’s Corner” on the Town of Crested Butte’s webpage. Coaches must submit contact information, background checks, and possibly applications and/or certifications. There are also great resources for coaching Little League Baseball available for you to peruse.

Pre-Season Practices D2 (11-12 year olds)

• Optional pre-season practices for D2 players have begun.
• Players must be registered prior to participating, do so below for free!
• Thursdays 5:45 - 7:15 pm in the MS gym
• Coaches/Parent helpers, we'd love to have your help!

Divisions 2 (11 & 12 yr olds):

• Born: May 1, 2000 – April 30, 2002
• Registration is open.
• Practices begin May 21, 2013 and will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays until the game schedule begins.
• Games will be played mid-week vs. Gunnison on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
• Saturday July 13 CB will host Telluride and a combined Naturita/Norwood/Nucla team.
• Saturday July 20 CB will travelt o play against Telluride and a combined Naturita/Norwood/Nucla team.
• The OTA end of season tournament will conclude Saturday July 27, 2013.
• More information on a defined practice and game schedule is coming soon.

Divisions 1 (9 & 10 yr olds):

• Born: May 1, 2002 – April 30, 2004
• Registration is currently closed.
• Registration is open.
• Practices begin the week of May 28, 2013.
• Games will be played mid-week vs. Gunnison on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
• Saturday July 13 CB will host Telluride and a combined Naturita/Norwood/Nucla team.
• Saturday July 20 CB will travelt o play against Telluride and a combined Naturita/Norwood/Nucla team.
• The OTA end of season tournament will conclude Saturday July 27, 2013.

Farm League (7 & 8 yr olds):

• Born: May 1, 2004 – April 30, 2006
• Farm League teams will begin practice on June 10 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on Gothic Field from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm for 2 weeks. After these two weeks, teams will be formed and games amongst each other will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays at 12:30 or 1:30 pm. Optional practices on Fridays will continue with parental assistance. The last week of the season will be July 22 – 26.

Tee Ball (5 & 6 yr olds):

• Born: May 1, 2007 – April 30, 2008
• Tee Ball teams will begin practice on June 10 and will practice Mondays and Wednesdays on Pitsker Field from 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm for 2 weeks. After these two weeks, teams will be formed and games amongst each other will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays during regularly scheduled practice slots. The last week of the season will be July 22 – July 26.
